Branch Website Development for Cancer.dk

Project Overview:

I led the end-to-end development of a branch website for Cancer.dk, an initiative by the Danish Cancer Society to help women learn about and understand their bodies. As the sole Web Developer on this project, I was responsible for all technical aspects, from initial concept through to final deployment. My role encompassed everything from architecture and development to deployment and ongoing maintenance, ensuring that the site was user-friendly, responsive, and fully aligned with the client’s mission.

Project Details:

Contentful CMS Setup and Management:

I was responsible for configuring and managing the Contentful CMS, ensuring that it met the unique content needs of Cancer.dk. This included defining and implementing content models, establishing relationships between different content types, and setting up validations to ensure the integrity of the content. I also created a streamlined workflow for content creators, making it easy for them to add, update, and manage the site’s content efficiently.

Frontend Development with React:

For the frontend, I utilized React to build a dynamic and engaging user interface. This involved designing and developing reusable components, managing application state, and implementing routing for seamless navigation. My focus was on creating a site that was both visually appealing and highly functional, ensuring that users could easily access information on women’s health and body awareness.

Responsive and Interactive Design:

I ensured that the website was fully responsive, providing an optimal experience on all devices, from desktops to mobile phones. The interactive elements were designed to engage users, making the site not only informative but also intuitive and easy to use. Special attention was paid to performance optimization to ensure fast loading times and smooth user interactions.

Deployment and Maintenance:

I was responsible for the full deployment of the website, ensuring that it was securely hosted and easily maintainable. Post-launch, I handled all maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting any technical issues and ensuring the site’s continuous performance and reliability. This involved proactive monitoring and regular updates to keep the website running smoothly.

Impact and Benefits:

The website has had a significant impact on Cancer.dk’s outreach efforts, providing women with valuable information about their health in an accessible and user-friendly format. By integrating an easy-to-use CMS and ensuring the site was optimized for performance and responsiveness, I helped Cancer.dk achieve their goal of making health education widely available to women across Denmark. The site has become an essential tool in their mission to promote body awareness and encourage proactive health measures among women.
